My hard drive is sounding like it is on the way out. How do I create a
recovery disc ?

Buy a new hard drive, and use BootItNG to image the old drive.. You may need
to act quite quickly.

I'ved used Acronis true image to create a full backup

Create an Image of the hard drive using Acronis True Image. Save this to a
set of DVD's and then you can install the image back to your new drive. When
using DVDs remember to enable the option that allows copy of acronis to be
installed on the DVD otherwise, unless you have made a separate recovery
disk, you will have problems re-imaging your new drive.

Or, assuming your old drive lasts long enough, which is
quite possible, most new drives come with a cloning
feature to move all the data from the old drive to the
new one. Just follow all the instructions. Easier
than trying to insert a new app into a failing
drive/new blank drive.
