In W XP and W Vista you have the possibility (in portable computers) to
coose between "sleep mode", "hybernation mode" and "shut off".
In both XP and Vista I have, in some stage of the program installation
(inst. of my work tools, not Windows) lost the possibility to use "sleep
mode" and "hybernation mode". That is a rather severe loss - the startup
time becomes minutes instead of seconds.

This is probably caused by one of the programs I install, but I have not
been able to figure out which. If I knew which routine it is that is shut
down, I could try to restart that and then maybe I could see which program
that does not work ...

Any idea about how to cure this?
Or about the name of the critical routine?
