Was wondering if Office 2000 can be loaded on computer using XP? And will it
work properly/the same?

As well, how do you save all the emails from a computer already using Offcie
2000 if you upgrade the computer to XP?

Thanx.

First - Office 2000 works fine on Windows XP. Do not make the mistake of
thinking that you can only run an office product on an operating system with
a similar name (Office 95, 2000, XP and Windows 95, Windows 2000 and Windows
XP have little in common in terms of what will run on them ;-) )

Second - if you mean you are utilizing Outlook 2000 - then yes - you should
backup to be safe (export to PST) before 'upgrading' to Windows XP -
assuming you are actually upgrading and not clean installing.

Yes it runs fine. After installing make certain you visit the Office Update
site and install the patches for it.

Assuming you are using Outlook you copy the pst files to some location.
If you upgrade, the data will remain in place

Hey, thanx a bunch. You're talkin' to someone that's still working with his
Compaq Presario from 1998. I've upgraded the dang thing multiple times to
the point that I can't add anymore memory, therefore, I'm limited on the OS I
can use.

Got a friend that's giving me his computer with XP, but didn't have Outlook
on it. My wife has seen the newest Office & Windows OS and can't stand the
thought of learning more functions than she could ever use. Just wanted to
make sure we could put the Outlook 2000 on the new (to us at least) computer
without issues.

Thanx again to both of you.

Allen P,
I am not sure if this will apply with just the installation of Outlook2000,
but I had issues trying to install Office97, Office2000, and MS Works Suite
2002 on a PC with XP SP2 installed on it. The SP2 installation changed some
of the security for I believe HTML situations. Now what I had to do before
installing these Office/Works Suites was to edit the registry so that the
installation would go through. I needed to change the names for following
keys:

1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image
File Execution Options\htmlmarq.ocx

2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image
File Execution Options\htmlmm.ocx

Changed Names to:
1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image
File Execution Options\OLDhtmlmarq.ocx

2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image
File Execution Options\OLDhtmlmm.ocx

After making these name changes, I was able to install the above listed MS
Office/Works suites. You can either change back the names, or leave the
changes as they are after the installation of the Office application. I saw
no difference in the functions of the programs, in either case.

Hi, I have used both Office 97 Professional and, recently, Office 2000 on my
pc running XP Home with SP2 and the necessary upgrades. I've noticed no
issues whatsoever, both products perform well.
