Taskbar Notification Area

In the Taskbar Notification Area, there is a group of icons just to the left
of the clock. To the left of these there used to be a left-right arrow that
could be clicked to gain full or partial of these icons. That has
strangely disappeared. Does anyone have an idea how to get this arrow icon
back?
