windows messenger updates

[lost messenger]

Hi,I have attempted to download the latest messenger, which it shows has been
completed, but whenever i log on it is always the 4.7 version, which is so
old. i have tried to delete the old version after downloading the newer one,
but it just reverts back again. please can you advise how to do this

Which "latest" one do you mean?

If you mean Windows Live Messenger, it's a separate application and will not replace Windows
Messenger. As such, you'll need to start it from the Start menu.
