I have Widowns XP and Internet Explorer 7. When I first start my computer I
can log on to the internet. However, after I leave the computer on for a
while and come back to try and log on to internet I can not! I have to
restart computer again.

Is there a solution for this?

How do you connect to the Internet - by what means?
- Dial-Up?
- Cable Modem?
- Satellite?
- DSL?
- Other/etc?

When you say "log on to the internet", what do *you* mean?
- Do you have to logon with your ISP?
- Do you mean 'surfing the Internet'?

A solution? probably, when you provide a whole lot more info.
Start by looking in your event viewer for any errors,
Then post any, and the type / method of connection

A lot more detail would be needed, but one possibility that comes to mind
is, assuming that you have a high-speed connection via a network cable to a
router or cable/DSL modem, that the network adapter is going to sleep as
part of a power-save scheme, and can't wake up. Turn this off in Device
Manager. But again, more detail would be needed.

Some ISP's disconnect idle users after some period of inactivity - it might
be worth asking that question if you haven't already.

One other thing to check is the power management for your network card:
right click "my computer" and select "properties". Click the "hardware" tab
and press the "device manager" button. go to the "network adapters" section
and go to the properties section for your network card (right click &
properties).

Now select the "power management" tab and uncheck the option that says
"allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
