Save as downloads not working properly

When I click on zip file to download it using the download manager
'Download Express' It offers me the choice of save to disk or save as.
If I click save to disk it works OK. If I choose save as, it says that
the file extension is .PHP. If I proceed & download this file using the
..PHP extension I find that the file is unusable & wont open. Whats
going on & how do I fix this?

There seems to be a bug in Download Express, so that it downloads the .php
scripts instead of the file/s they refer to. Can't you just save the .zip
file to disk and then rename or move it later?

Also check that you are actually downloading with DE, using the Ctrl+Alt
keys, and that .zip is registered as a file extension.
