I have an external HD attached . After I boot up autoplay starts and seems
to scan through every file. Is this supposed to happen?

Depends on what the autorun.inf file says to execute.

I cannot tell you what is in a file on your host. You'll have to go
look at the file (it is a text file).

This may not be an autorun file. If you have a large number of files
and large files on the drive, this may simply be your computer
scanning the drive so that the files and folders will show in the
drive letter in My Computer (Explorer).
