In safe mode I get a long list of errors or whatever they are called!! Here

Here is where I am at. After doing a “disk check” repair automatically etc..

I go this message on start-up:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage
to your computer.

A process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or
been terminated.

If this is the first time you have seen this stop error screen, restart your
computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If
this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for
any windows updates you may need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or
software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you
need to use safe mode to remove or…that is as far as I go before it restarted.

It seems to restart…but only after it hangs for about five minutes on the
blue progress bar (before I get into the login screen). I was hoping to get
the error message at the bottom, but it restarted automatically on me. Any
advice is appreciated!

Thanks.

From a Quick read of your Pre-post you have a Laptop, that's right?.
Your Laptop Battery may be gone bad and need to be replaced, but first try
these options:
Try to take out the Battery from the Laptop and just use the Normal Power
cord and start the laptop, does it start quicker?.

compbatt.sys Microsoft Composite Battery Driver and you can locate it here:
C:\Windows\System32\drivers
and You can copy it from the CD from here to the above Directory/Path
CD(letter):\i386\system32\driver folder

Error message when you start a Windows XP Embedded-based computer that is
running on AC power or that has a fully charged battery: "Critical Battery"
or "Low Battery"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938961

Have a look in the Event Viewer and send us the error messages you will see
there in your next post:
Open a Notepad, customize or minimize to the taskbar as you will need it
later for this step to copy the error message on it.
Open a run command and type in:
eventvwr.msc click [OK] you will get the Event viewer control Panel.
click on each of these:
Application
System
Security
Look in the right Pane/window for error message with red (X) or Yellow
exclamation mark /!\ , double click each one to get more info about the
causer.
On the Event error properties message you will see:
Up Arrow
Down arrow
Two pages
Click on the two pages to copy the error message then bring up the Notepad
you opened earlier and right click on the first line and select Paste from
the list, this will paste the error message on a Notepad.
Please don't duplicate the error message one of each kind will be sufficient.

Please we need just the error messages with Red (X) and don't repeat the

Guess I did not figure out the correct e-mail "code!"

I sent it to and it bounced back. Please reply to
my hotmail account when you receive my e-mail (I want to make sure I am
sending the log files to the correct e-mail). Thanks.

Hey Nass, thanks for all your help. I've ran everything I know and the
computer still hangs on Boot-up. There were some "Hardware Innterupts" using
Procexp.exe that I noticed. So I've put about 40+ hours into this thing and I
think it is time to reinstall the system software! I do have her files
backed-up.

Would you reccomend a good overall software / virus / spyware protection
system that I should buy.

I normally run AVG, Spybot (with Tea Timer -- but the kids always says ALLOW
when it asks you if you want to change something!!

They are always on MySpace, YouTube etc..... and leave us parents with the
"fun" of fixing their computer!

I noticed that you reccomended: na_issdm_ca_32_en_Store_trial.exe

Is that a good "overall protection / turn-key" system? If so, I will go
through your links on your web site so hopefully you can get some sort of
credit!!

Please reply to the e-mail I sent to Yahoo and I will send you the log files
that you requested.

Regards,

Duane

PS I've put the XP disk in and told BIOS to restart from CD....but it is
still hanging!! Any ideas. I'd like you to look at the log files before I
reinstall everything.

Hi Duane,
I didn't receive your E-mail, did you put the right address like to_you_ross
(note the Underscore in( to_you_ross) they are not
.
Copy this to your Notepad and remove the REMOVETHIS:

I will let you know my answer to your queries after having a look on your
log, you may end up not doing a clean install or it could be your best option
to wipe out the HDD clean!.

Can you please include any error messages you get and have a look in the
Event Viewer for more, copy and paste in your next msg.
