I have a failed messenger upgrade install that restarts each time I restart
my pc. How do I stop this from restarting?

Click Start >> All programs>> Accessories >> System Tools>> System Restore.
Restore your system to an earlier date before the Messenger visited you!.

Rather not if I can help it. I had other changes I hope not to lose. I'm
hoping for a targeted solution if one exists

It was an upgrade to the MSN Messenger

Delete the application Program files , Application data , Local settings
Folder.Also the Messenger entry from outo loading using the MSCONFIG startup
option.
