I've just installed XP Home. I have a floppy with a long list of favorites
from Win 98 that I'd like to add to my favorites. How can I do this.

Copy them to your favorites directory.

This is the default favorites folder for a user
C:\Documents and Settings\yourlogonname\Favorites

If you wanted all users to be able to access them then copy them here
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Favorites

Or use the IE import wizard...

In IE:

File > Import and Export

Follow the directions, and the favorites will be correctly imported the way
windows likes them

Hope it works for you...

That won't work unless he used IE's export function to save his favorites in
the first place. If he simply copied his favorites folder, he will have to
copy his favorites to the new location as specified in the first response.

It's best to export and import them via the option in the IE file
menu. Warning: XP can be very finicky about floppies.

If he didn't initially use the Export function to create the "favorites"
currently on his floppy disk, he won't be able to use the import function to
bring them back to IE.
