Tried different methods: Upgrading existing installation and clean install on
a different partition. I removed all programs that according to the guide,
might not work. Every thing seems to go well until the first restart. Then I
get a blue screen saying: STOP:
0X0000005C(0X0000010B,0X00000003,0X00000000,0,0000 0000).
I can't figure out what is wrong, but is left dead in the water.
Anyone knows?

Greetings
Gorade

It suggests a hardware problem.. disconnect all peripheral devices,
printers, scanners, webcams..

Leave only mouse screen and keyboard connected..

If the installation continues to fail, there may be incompatible hardware in
the 'box'

If it's a laptop, it simply may not be compatible with Vista, probably best
to put XP back in.

Googled:

In at least a couple of the forums it reference a BIOS
that does not support Vista (including HP which has an update)
