Working between files

I'm writing a thesis draft in Word perfect and have to
cut and paste from one file to another. Every time I try
and save a file it becomes a read only and I have to save
under a new file name. How can I stop files becoming read
only? Or how can I change from Wordperfect back to Word

Since you are the creator and "owner" of these files, it isn't likely this
is a permissions problem within XP. From your description, it sounds more
like a file protection setting within the WordPerfect program. MS Word has
similar settings. If using both programs, check settings in each.
