I recently purchased a High Def video camera which captures to an .avi file.
I was trying to edit some recently shot footage in Movie Maker, but am
having problems with the program hanging up when I try to import these video
files.
Does anyone know if Movie Maker is compatable with the HD format?
Thanks

Hi, my name's Cody, and I'm working with the Windows Media Outreach Team to help answer questions that folks might have about their copies of Windows Movie Maker.
The newest editions of Windows Movie Maker do have HD support, but this is only available in Windows Vista Home Premium and Ultimate editions. If you're using WMM in Windows Vista Home Basic or XP, you'll only see output profiles for non-HD formats (including DV-AVI).
Here's a handy link from Microsoft about this newest version of Windows Movie Maker and some of its features: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/features/movie-maker.aspx I hope this answers your questions! If you've got any further issues, please let me know, and I'll be happy to help in any way I can.
Thanks,
Cody

Thanks for your reply Cody.
Looks like the issue might be that I'm running XP Professional.
Regards,
Shaun
