I have a Dell Inspiron 1150 I bought years ago. I just tried to activate the
fax component and it says I need to install the original operations disc. I
have no idea where it is. Am I out of luck or is there a place to download
the info?

You *may* not be out of luck. See
http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/FAQFAX.htm and look for a folder on your
hard drive named C:\i386 or C:\%windir%\ServicePackFiles\i386
If you find both, look for the install files in the latter folder first.

It's my understanding that Dell computers are supplied with a real
Windows XP CD. That's what you need. If what you have is a CD that is
used to access a hidden partition on the hard drive to restore the
computer to its condition as it was when it arrived from Dell, then that
is *not* what you need.

How do I install the Windows XP Fax Services?

Why can't the XP Fax Installation Program find the Installation Files?

No. It is only available as part of the original installation files.
