need help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i just bought a new compaq computer i got hooked up to
the internet and everything well all these advertisments
pop up while i am serching the web i can not seem to stop
it and not only that but when i open a web page it will
not ler me close it i have to log off the computer and
log ack on in order to exit the page that i enter so if
you can help me i would really appreciate it because i is
really driving me nuts trying to figure it out.

Is any Messenger service on ? They are notorious for pop-ups but this is
first time I've read about the inability to close a webpage because of them.
So other suggestions may definitely apply if this is not the cause.

If you get into a situation mlike you have described, do the following, in
this order:
- Ctrl + Alt + Del
- Click the processes tab
- End the process called IEXPLORE.EXE or NETSCAPE.EXE for Internet Explorer
and/or Netscape respectively

I highly recommend Spybot Search and Destroy and/or AdAware 6 for the
removal of spyware and adware. they check behind each other very well, and
both work equally well (clearing away the same intrusive software, etc.).

If you are using Kazaa, get an spyware-free version, or just completely
ditch it.

I read through this thread. I would just take it back to
the store where I bought it. The machine is not set up
with the proper security settings. etc etc.
