Two screens, two applications?

WinXP Home SP3.

My friend has a laptop, but she preferred her old desktop monitor and
keyboard, so we took advantage of the Fn/F8 feature and it works fine.

Now she has a set of DVDs that is a training course for a software
application, and they recommend that the course be taken while
simultaneously running the application. She doesn't have an independent
DVD-TV system. She could run both using Alt/Tab to switch back and forth,
but this would be awkward and ineffective.

Is there any way that she can run the course using the monitor while
simultaneously running the application using the laptop screen?

Okay, cancel this one, too. I overlooked the minor detail that she doesn't
have speakers with her old monitor. She says that she'll buy a new DVD
player. Thanks, anyway.

You put the cart in front of the horse,actually microsoft has such software
in development,however it can run independent users on the same monitor
with diffrent applications running per user,its in testing stages now...
