Are you receiving odd emails as well? It seems as if you
have some spamsoftware installed on your PC. That can come
with any free software like Kazaa, etc. Get AdAware form
www.lavasoft.de. You can also have a virus like
JS_Noclose, which changes your homepage and open pop-up
windows the whole time.

I would add that you install Spyware Blaster to hedge off any of these
self-installing garbage programs. See:

Also, if they are messenger popups, either install a software firewall to
block them, or disable the messenger service. Start/run services.msc, locate
the messenger service and disable it.
