I have a Win XP Home edition, SP3.

I am trying to print to a HP Laser jet 5L connected to the LPT1 port, I am
using the parallel port on the PC.
The Com & LPT ports were hidden in the Dev Man, I have revealed them but
they are faded out and the device enabled is not showing on the Gen tab.
When I connect the printer the PC does not see it.

I cannot print anything from this port. I have checked the printer & cable
on another PC Win XP Prof SP3 and the PC see's it immediately.

There seeme to be no connectivity via the parallel port, how can I resolve
this.
All suggestions gratefully received.
Thanks
Tom

Are the ports enabled in the BIOS of the system.

Reboot

Press the key sequence to enter the BIOS configuration. Make sure at least
the parallel port is enabled. You will normally have several
configurations. Read the manual for the 5l to determine the proper ECP EPP,
AT configuration for this device.
