HELP!!! I recently upgraded to Windows XP every couple of
days my computer seems to turn on by itself. My husband
says he may have accidently pushed the sleep button.
Would that activate this??? How do I take it off???
Please someone help before my electricity bill skyrockets!

Hi,

Check the system BIOS. WinXP cannot initiate a startup when the system is
totally powered on. It has to be coming from a BIOS setting.

Hi,
Check to make sure that your system hasn't been accidently set to
hibernate mode.
Go to Start, settings, control panel, display, screen saver, power,
hibernate. Make sure the box isn't checked.

I wouldn't worry about the electric bill. Three lightbulbs will
use more electricity. I would be concerned with spyware or
a backdoor virus. Do a scan.

No disagreement that the problem needs to be looked into, but you
could turn off the power bar.
