Update driver for Flip Video

I am having problems viewing my videos from my Flip Video recorder. I suspect
it is a driver problem as the listed driver in my system is dated 7/1/2001
and is not digitally signed. I cannot for the life of me find an updated
driver and Flip Video support is absolutely no help..they simply say it is a
Microsoft problem. I have searched everywhere I can think of in Microsoft
support and cannot come up with the answer.

Unfortunately that did not solve the problem..thanks for the try though.
Incidentally, the camera works fine on my wife's notebook running Vista..

Maybe it's not clear what the actual issue is?

Are you saying VLC cannot play the files?

Yes, it will not play the files. I am at a loss as to the real issue but as I
said, I suspect the driver. However, it worked fine for a time then went
haywire. I re-formatted the camera and it worked for a few hours then
reverted back to the problem where when it tries to open, I get a windows
explorer message pop up that says windows explorer has encountered a problem
and must close.

When you download a file from your
camera to a folder on your hard drive
what is the extension on the file?

You might have to help me out.. I feel kinda dumb but don't see a file
extension. It is an application file and when I right click on the the file
and go to properties I don't see a file extension.

Maybe you are still thinking about the
driver...I'm asking about the video 'you'
recorded. Did you download a video file
from your camera to a folder on your hard
drive?

If...Yes...what is the full name of the file? If
the file is a folder...open the folder and look
for the file extension...

If you open a folder that is already on your
hard drive that contains pictures...do the
file names have an extension? .jpg, .tif, .gif, ?

I'm sorry..I totally misunderstood. Let me clarify. I do have video files on
my hard drive that were saved prior to the problem started. They are video
clips with .avi and the play just fine on the Windows Media Player. the
problem now is that the Flipshare camera will not even let the download
begin. As the Flipshare program begins to open upon plugging the camera into
the USB port, the Windows Explorer pop up appears indicating a problem
opening FlipShare and says it must close, which it does.
