Just purchased PC with OP operating systems with Quicken
2003 preinstalled. Tried to open up files from a
previous version of Quicken (1997 or 1999) and it told me
I had to download an update for $30.00 to read the files.
Will Quicken 2003 read backed up files from previous
versions of Quicken from a disk. Will Quicken 2002 do
the same? If Quicken 2002 will do the same, then would I
uninstall the preinstalled Quicken 2003 first. Just
trying to figure if it's worth spending the $30.00.
Don't want to if it won't let me access the work I have
saved on disk. I hope you can follow the above and
apologize for the lengthy posting.

Quicken is a product from Intuit. You should contact them or your system
manufacturer with this issue. www.intuit.com

Gia,

I could be wrong but what I believe is installed on your system is Quicken
2003 New User Edition.

New User Edition will allow you to create and manage a new account; not
stated explicitly is that you cannot import records from any previous
version of Quicken into this version. However, if you are willing to part
with a mere $30 or so you can unlock (or download) a fully functioning
version.

A thinly veiled marketing scheme I think.
