Hi, I know that this isn't really a xp basic question but
there are no other relevant forums so here it is:

I have create a dos boot disk to run an old game but now
i need to get the sound to work so i want a simple
driver. Is it possible to get some kind of generic
driver or do i need the specific on. I know I need
a .com file but thats about all.

My sound card according to windows anyway is an ESS 1969
(although I don't think thats quiet right never mind.

Any help would be great thanks in advance.

You've tried the generic soundblaster lines in config.nt/autoexec.nt?
This article gives some details about working with the *.nt files:

Also (I haven't tried it but) have seen VDMSound recommended for getting
sound in DOS games. http://sourceforge.net/projects/vdmsound/
