System Sounds wil not change

I have been working on this for several months now. Certain sounds of my
system sounds will not change .. for example I can change the "minimize"
sound in my sound profile and it will indicate the change ... however when I
minimize the sound is always the same sound .. it does not change to the one
indicated. I created a new user profile and it works fine.. which leads me
to the believe that the profile may be corrupt. However the about 60% of the
system sounds will change properly when I put in the different sounds. Can
anyone please suggest what I can do .. I really do not want to migrate my
profile to a new one as I am not sure what needs to be done and I understand
it is very difficult. Thanks.

You may want to select a default sound scheme and save that to a
unique/personal named scheme. Then make changes and save that
scheme, reboot and see if changes are persistent.

> thanks for the suggestion... I have done that several months ago....I also have deleted all sound schemes and even gone as far as loading the old MS Plus CD to see if that would fix the settings. I have also downloaded from Kates MVP website all the settings resets for the registry in regards to sounds. It still behaves in the manner described above. I have asked several very knowledgeable people and still no fix. If you have any other suggestion I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
