IIS Service

[Draser]

My computer came with Windows XP Home Edition, version 5.1 and there is no
IIS under Windows Components. Can I, and how do I get IIS added to my
Components, please help.

No.

Upgrade to a version of Windows with IIS - like WIndows XP Professional,
etc.

You do this by upgrading the OS to XP Pro. IIS isn't supported on XP Home.
There are ways to hack it so that it will install, but these are not
recommended.

You can also use any of a number of other web servers.

You can not. XP Home doesn't support IIS

You can upgrade to XP Professional, or you could instead use a product
like Apache Server instead of IIS.

I have Windows XP Home Edition. I don't need the IIS, which is available
with Windows XP Pro, because the features of IIS are provided by Mercury/32
(a mail server) and Apache (a web server). Both are third party applications
which install, and run, just fine under Windows XP HE.
