View Full Version : Explorer not seeing media files

Hi,

As I sort one glitch our pc (XPPro SP2) throws up, over recognising things
in its relatively new DVDR drive, it seems another rears its head.

Having added VLC media player and CDBurnerxp, I am both able to play and
record DVD and media on CD-R.

But Explorer is still not seeing many media CD or DVDs until I first open
them with a media player (Even one that won't actually play them like
Windows Media Player (11) - says I need a player, when clearly I already
have one!).

Once I have browsed, via a media player, to a disc whose contents Explorer
does not see on its own, thereafter Explorer does see the files, until the
disc is ejected, after which one has to go through a similar process with
any subsequent disc.

Ordinary data discs are seen OK.

How do I get Explorer to appreciate that I do have the necessary playing
equipment and software, and let me see what is on the discs without having
to go via the back door?

Cheers,

S
