could an expert in internet connections and routers please help me with this.
I have a belkin F5D8233-4V3 router.
I bought a PS3 (yes i know, im going against microsoft already, sorry).
anyway i kept getting nat type 3.
i got some information on the intenet on changing my ip adress (which i did)
and changing my connection type from dynamic to static then doing some port
forwarding or something. but something got messed up and i tried putting it
back to what is was but i can't. i've lost my secondary DNS :s dont know
where or what it is anymore.
could someone basically help me start everything again.
so i want to set up an IP. then i want to sort out my connection with my
router to my ps3 which is a nat type 2.
can anyone tell me where to start as im so confussed and in a right mess!

What do you mean you set your IP to static??? Your ISP can only do that for
your modem, now unless you are talking about on your computer you need some
more explanations...

To reset your router/modem; on the back or bottom there is a very small
button possible recessed to prevent accidental depressing. Use a small item
like a pen to depress the button and hold it for about 8 seconds then
release it. The router will be set back to its default parameters. This
should get you back to the beginning.

On your computer; reset your IP configuration to Dynamic (IP and DNS). Allow
it to regain IP and DNS addresses. Open a DOS box (Command Prompt) then type
in ipconfig /all to see all the information on your connection. Write down
the DNS addresses that you have received from the router/modem.

If you want to use a static IP address on your computer you will need to
input the DNS addresses you have written down after you set your computer to
use a Static IP address. Enter the DNS addresses and you are good to go.
