What is Do More 6.0

[Panic]

In Control Panel...Add/Remove I found an entry for Do More 6.0. It showed
it as a utility. I had no idea what it was so I searched for it and found a
DoMore folder. It contained an .exe file which, when clicked, installed it
and rebooted. I now have it operational. Anyone know what it is? I
entered it in Windows Help and got no direct information.

It doesn't show in Start... Programs.. or on my desktop or in my Windows
Accessory folder.

Do you have a gateway pc? See http://do-more.software.informer.com/

However I'm not sure clicking on unknown programs is the best thing to
do. You may have just infected your machine.

Use google and type in "domore.exe", You'll get more info than MS help.

When you install software, do you actually review ALL options during the
install? Many will show a prompt about installing 3rd party software,
like a toolbar, and let you opt out (it is opt-in by default). If you
just go clicking on the Next button without reading the screens then you
opted into that additional fluffware. Personally, and if available, I
always select a Custom install because I might not want everything in
the install package.

You might also want to submit the .exe file for the program to
http://www.virustotal.com/ to see if any of those scanners tell you
something about the file, like if it is adware or spyware.

Hi Panic,
I've tried my best to search for more info on this with not much
success. My thoughts are that it is probably some sort of malware (spyware
or adware). All I could find out other than quite a lot of people have got
it on their systems from the amount of people who post lists of their
running process when looking for answers to other problems, was a posting of
the uninstall string listed as:

"C:\Program Files\SIFXINST\SIFXINST.EXE" /UnapplyFile
20440EF7-D14E-47E2-9D7F-18336E728FB9 /Prompt

to be honest, I wouldn't use this uninstall command, I would manually delete
it's presence from the system. If it won't go because it's "A Running
Process" there are a few free tools available like "Remove On Reboot" here

Yes it is a Gateway machine. Add/Remove showed it already installed. It
was in a folder under C:\cabs\WinXP\utility\DoMore. It's probably been
active since I bought the machine in 2003. I tried you Google
recommendation and it appears to be a malware utility. I think I'll remove
it using Add/Remove.

Thanks, Tim. I uninstalled it using Add/Remove. It told me that there were
two versions, one original, one update. That kind of confirms that it was a
Gateway program installed in the beginning with my computer and when I just
found the exe file and executed it recently that was the update. I chose to
remove it entirely.

It apparently was a device to detect malware. I have McAfee security system
which hopefully will do the same job. The file is at least 6 years old so
it was probably out of date. And I use Internet Explorer version 8 which is
supposed to be more secure.
