Sharing Files

Hi,

I have a small workgroup consisting of 8 XP Pro PC's and
1 XP Pro PC acting as a file server. What is the safest
way to share files on this network ? With a domain
controller I could assign access rights to individual
users but now I only seem to be able to assign 'Everyone'
rights to the files on my XP Pro 'server'. Is there any
way I can assign individual rights ? Many thanks.
