XP pro...I have put IDE Cd-ROM in first position in BIOS...still will not
boot from disk...I posted earlier having problems from installing sp3...

Problem Description: I downloaded Service pack 3 and installed. When
prompted to restart, I get continuous reboot loops and it will not reboot.

Will not start successfully. I have tried Safe Mode...Normally...I have
tried booting from the XP disk...nothing helps...just continues to go through
the reboot loop and tries to boot normally.

After you install Windows XP SP3, a hardware device or an installed program
may work differently.

Therefore, you may want to uninstall Windows XP SP3 as a troubleshooting
step.

This article describes how to remove Windows XP SP3 from your computer.

Are you following the "Press any key to boot from CD" prompt that Twayne
suggested in your previous post? If you don't confirm or deny that you are
doing this, then no one here can help.

It was a very bad idea to start a new thread with this; now you've
thrown away all the preceding data from the first posts and you'll be
getting repeat answers to things you've already responded to.

Also, you never responded to the question about whether you are getting
the "Press any key ... " message to boot from the CD when you try to
boot from the XP disk.

For the best experience, you should answer ALL questions that are asked
of you, especially when you have a vague problem such as this one.

Is there a reason you started a new thread for this question? Are you
now checking both places for answers? People won't necessarily realize
you've started a new thread and may be responding to your original post.

If your HDD is SATA then change in BIOS settings for SATA from
compatible (or enhanced) to disabled.
You can boot from CD by setting first boot drive your CD drive.
When you can download from CD you can repair you XP with XP
installation CD. Use, if possible, SP2 - you'll have less head aches.

Hello,

Your system should be restarting after showing a blue screen. Here's how to
make it stay so that you can post back the error information

Switch on your computer and keep hitting F8 until you get a menu titled
"Windows Advanced Options Menu". If you see the XP loading progress bar, you
missed it and will have to try rebooting again.

If there is only one option in that menu, hit F8 again.

In this menu select 'Disable automatic restart on system failure', Enter,
Enter and you should be able to view the full blue screen error when it
occurs again. Post back the message here and we will be able to help you
better

Note: If there is no 'disable automatic restart..' option in the menu,
select 'Start Windows Normally' and *quickly* hit the F8 key for the correct
menu to come out
