Hi Everyone:

I know that this is not the forum from 'AVG Free' edition related issues but
hopefully someone knows the answer to this.

I am unable to sign-in to the forum successfully because the error message
'An attempt to steal your opened session identity was detected. The session
was terminated for your security. Please log-in again' appeared.

Alternately, the HTTP 500 Server comes up sometimes after I log-in.

I created a 2nd account but the same error message appeared.

I am using Windows XP Prof with Service Pack 3, AVG anti-virus version 8.5,
and Windows firewall.

Why is the error message appearing? I signed in for the first time in the
'new' forum yesterday and have not used the forums for about 6 months. This
issue is only on the forum sign-in page as I have already contacted my ISP
and there is no connection issue.

I would 'really' appreciate a response.

I tried the AVG Forum last weekend. Despite obtaing new passwords I
could not log on. I have tried in the past and have got the same result.
It is a long time since I have succeeded in logging on.

I have no idea what the problem is and cannot ask AVG for an
explanation. The forum is the only support available for users of AVG
8.5 Free.

Same situation here. I give up. After getting those annoying pop up
ads everyday and finding that they will continue for a month, I will
now look for a new anitvirus.
If there was ever a chance that I would get an AVG upgrade, the pop up
ads removed the possibility forever.
Have a nice day.

I have AVG 8.5 [free] and it is (has been) working just fine!

I don't get "pop-ups" I don't know what pop-ups you're talking about?

I have used AVG for the past year with no problems. Not only no
problems, but it has definitely saved me and my PC from a number of
virus attacks.

I also used AVG 6.0 from 02 - 05 with same excellent results.

I think AVG [free] is brilliant for people with a major cash-flow
"situation"!

Glad that y'all do not have the pop ups, Tim
They are ads for a buy now ID add on to the basic free 8.5 AVG
According to the AVG forum, an AVG manager posted a notice that the
ads will pop up for 4 days each week for a month.
I know of several other AVG users here in the states who are
experiencing the same annoyances.
Have anice day

I tried registering and logging in - no problems.

There may possible be an issue with the older version of the forum being
phased-out and it's read-only now and will be closed soon.

I registered for the "new" version, you need a valid email address.

I received the 'Confirmation Email' within one minute. Clicked on the
link within and logged in to the site.

There is a warning on sending of this email - that if the link is NOT
clicked on to 'Activate' the account - it will remain 'locked'.

I don't know if any of this is relevant to you?

Here is the link I used to register for the new version forum :

https://secure.avg.com/ww.avg-free-forum-register

....good luck!

PS.. If you can 'read' the forums site - I posted a new thread to it
titled "Problems logging into forum" :

Thanks for your reply.
Even though the 'old' forum is read-only now. I am still able to log-in
with my username and password.

I also registered for the 'new forum' and entered a valid email address and
received the email 'confirmation' link that said my account was now
'activated' but the error message stated in my initial post came up and it
would not let me go 'into' the forum.

You used the link in the confirmation email to activate *and* login for
the first time?

I also just read your second post stating the error message you
received...

IMO it is because the link is not being completely read -

*'Copy and paste' the link in it's entirety into your browser's address
bar.

This sometimes happens when the link is subject to line-wrap and is not
read from beginning to end.

The error message stating that the data in the activation link was
"incomplete" suggests to me that this is the case.

I clicked on 'Forgot my password' and reset it. I received the confirmation
email and copied and pasted the link and it said that my account was now
activated. I signed in and the error message said 'The operation data
supplied via the link is either incomplete or invalid.'
