I have read through some posts and not found the same problem I am having
specifically stated. When I download Flash Player it goes through all the
install and at the very end gives a "failed to register" error. I have went
through multiple steps to try and resolve the issue (permissions in the
registry, uninstall/reinstall, install from local drive instead of in IE. I
am running IE6 (and have tried it with IE7 too). I was able to load it in
another browser with success but I need to use IE as a default and need it
there as well. Anybody know a solution?

If the failed installation manages to leave the file :

C:\WINDOWS\system32\MACROMED\Flash\Flash10b.ocx

....then try manually registering it by typing the command :

regsvr32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\MACROMED\Flash\Flash10b.ocx

There is also a log file in that directory. It might
give some hint as to what is wrong.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\install.log

I appreciate everyone's help but there has been no resolution to this issue.
FireFox runs flash fine but IE will not register it manually or any other
way. After contacting Adobe with no luck (they sent me an email to contact
customer service, that the tech dept cannot handle this issue). I have
decided to switch out the workstation with another that will run Flash on all
browsers.

"What I finally did (that worked) was to go to the Adobe Flash website
www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/ and they have a utility that will
completely remove Flash Player from your computer. Run this utility,
THEN reinstall Flash Player and you should be okay."

When all suggesed solutions on adobe and internet were not working you
need to do this:

in the register go to:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{D27CDB6B-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000}
select this number with left click, click richt andselect permissions
with left click and than on permissions put a V on averyone.
close register and install flash 10 on the adobe site and it will work
nice and fine:)
