Changing the view of my folders in my control panel

I can not change the current "view" of my folders and or files in my control
panel. It alwats defaults to icons. I want it changed to "details". I have
switched my view to details, opened tools, gone into folder options, clicked
on the view tab, and selected "apply to all folders" in the folder view
section. It always defaults to "icons." In the Advanced Setting I have even
played with have the "Remember each folder's View Setting" Button selected
and or not. Either way it continues to default to icons. HELP?!

There are no folders/files in the Control Panel - the icons represent
"Applets" (Utiliites/Programs) for changing settings (Primarily Registry).

AJR - I am opening access to my folders via a right click on start, and
opening Explore. So I may have mis-labelled this as control panel. Does
this make more sense? Sorry - AG

Open ONE instance of 'Windows Explorer' and in the first folder you come to with
files in it, set the folder to 'View' - 'Details'.

Then, choose 'Tools' > 'Folder Options' from the top menus, to bring up the Folder
Options control from within Explorer.

Under the 'View' tab of 'Folder Options' - click on the apply to all folders button.

*This should do it! - Opening up the 'Folder Options' from within Windows Explorer
should make a difference.

If it doesn't - repeat the entire process but click on the 'Reset All Folders' button
first, and then on the ''Apply to All Folders' button.

Hi Tim. I appreciate the feedback. I tried your recommendations and they
were steps I had already attempted before. Sorry to say it does not make the
change to details permanent (even if I try the reset all folders option). I
welcome any additional thoughts. Thanks AG

Does the problem occur only after a reboot, or logging in to an account?

Then again, you might have some software running that won't allow the
changes. Is there anything running that could be blocking changes?
