I have a question about the Windows XP Internet Connection Firewall: Is
there a way to set up the firewall so that it can remain enabled
PERMANENTLY? I connect to the internet through a dial-up ISP, and I have to
enable the firewall each time I connect to the internet, because the
firewall gets disabled when I disconnect the internet connection. I fear
that I may forget to enable the firewall one of these days. So I want to
know if the ICF can remain enabled without me having to manually enable it
each time I connect to the internet. Please advise.

Try this....
Goto: Start>Settings>Control Panel>Network and Internet Connections>Network
Connections (at the bottom)
You should get a screen showing your available connections. Look under the
"Dial-Up" category and select your default connection (the default has a
check mark on it)
Now.... on the left hand menu, under Network Tasks, choose Change Settings
of this Connection....
A new window will pop up.... go to the Advanced tab and check the box to
enable the firewall. This should keep it turned on. If not... I'm stumped.
Depending on the security you want.... Windows XP firewall is minimum
protection... it will only block incoming attacks.... if you were to
download something that contained a trojan virus, XPs firewall won't do
much could because the attack will then work from the inside out....
If you want to prevent spyware software from sending data out from your PC
to the internet you should think about buying a better firewall.
Hope this helps
