Hi!
I have a DELL system which came with win xp home, and i
upgraded to win xp pro a few days ago, and activated my
copy over the phone line. btw, i am logged in as comp
administrator and thats the only user on the machine.
WHen i tried to connect to the internet, using my dialup
modem connection, it just didnt wanna even go to the
screen where it says...dial this number.
I tried to make a new connection, and the dialup option
was disabled, and only broadband was on.
I checked later, and found out that the Remote Access
Connection Manager service was not activated.
I tried to activate it by pressing start, and it
said "Error 5: Access Denied".
So basically i cant connect.....and it doesnt authorize
me
to turn this admin service on.
I tried to create a new user accnt which also was as comp
admin, but still doesnt work.
Can anyone help me.
Much appreciated.
Thank You

It is hard to say why your admin accounts are being denied
access to manage the services. You could try this
Restore XP to installation Security Defaults
for Pro see: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=313222

try using the AT command to start task manager 1 minute in
advance. This sometimes will elevate your privelages to
allow you to create new tasks such as services.msc with
elevated privelages.
