Hi,

How can I restore files from a corrupted Windows XP backup file? When I try
to restore the backup file, the process stops in its early stages with the
error message: "An inconsistency was encountered in the requested backup
file." Is there anything I can do about it? The files I can't access are
*very* important for me.

Typically if the file is corrupt, there is not much that can be done.

What is the file stored on? CD or tape?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

> What is the file stored on? CD or tape?

It is stored on the hard drive of another computer networked with this one.

Sincerely,

Very possible then that it is corrupt. Not a lot you can do for corrupt
backup files unfortunately.
