Hey there, the computer crashed the other night, and when
I booted her up again it got the the Welcome screen then
displayed a Security error about the local profile being
damaged and will load a temp one instead. How can I fix
this and get my profile back?
Thanks

If you have no backups from which to restore, then your
shortest route may be defining a new account and transferring
as much as you can from the old account to the new. When
this corruption message happens it is usually the accounts
portion of the registry, and there is no way of which I know
to fix it except restoring.

Hey, thanks for the reply, I have the whole thing still in
C:\Documents and Settings\Scott Bell\ with all the
Favourites and My Documents, I just cant find any of the
email messages that were in Outlook Express.
The exact error message is as follows:
Windows cannot locate the server copy of your roaming
profile and is attempting to log you on with your local
profile. Changes to the profile will not be copied to the
server when you logoff. Possible causes of this error
include network problems or insufficient security rights.
If this problem persists, contact your network
administrator.
DETAIL - Access is denied.

email messages transfer fairly easily, but address book,
newsgroup archives, etc do not. The normal storage spot
should be obvious if you go into OE in any account, then
Tools / Options / Maintanance / Store Folder
if you had not changed it from the default then your old
profile will have its in a parallel location
Why is it now looking for a roaming profile ?
Have you, after making a copy of the profile for
safety, tried changing the account (if possible)
to a local profile (this is in properties of My Computer,
Advanced tab, under the Settings button in the User
Profiles panel.
