View Full Version : Game Problems

I have a p.c. with the following spec:
2Gb AMD Athlon processor
512 Mb RAM
Nvidia GeForce 4 MX440 graphics card
Jetway motherboard with onboard sound
40 Gb Hard drive
Windows Xp home
I thought with this spec I would be able to run pretty much any game I
wanted without any problems. However this does not seem to be the case. When
playing, a game run fine but every now and then the game goes all jerky and
very difficult to play, then just as suddenly it goes back to normal. It
seems to happen any time in the game and not at the same time everytime I
play.
Can anybody shed any light as to what the problem might be as I am getting
very frustrated about it. I have downloaded the latest driver from Nvidia
for the graphics card and Direct X 9.
Any help will be gratefully appreciated.
Neil Barnes.

It was reported that directx9 causes this problem. Some games will run with
directx8 but not directx 9.

you might also consider an optional profile for
gaming as noted at this site - as you can scroll
down 3-4 screen pages - chking it out as you go
to get to a 'chart form' w/setups incl 'gaming'

The system looks good, but your MX440 is lacking for some of today's games.
It is also, not DX 9.0 compliant, so you won't see any gains from DX9. Also
make sure that you have the AGP setting in your BIOS set correctly for your
Vid card and Motherboard.
