View Full Version : Lost my welcome screen

I changed around my network connections and now when starting winXP my
welcome screen -the log on one with my name and chosen picture - does not
appear, but instead a more formal Windows XP log on screen appears. Using
that to log on appears to work just the same as the personal welcome screen,
but something is amiss and I'd like to get back to where I was before.

From Control Panel/User Accounts - > 'change the way users log on and off'
produces the following dialogue message with yellow triangle:
"Client Services for NetWare has disabled the Welcome screen and Fast
User Switching. To restore these features, you must uninstall Client
Services for Netware."

Opening 'network connections' and checking the properties of each connection
shown there, none have the Client Services for Netware box ticked.

So what to do?

Note:
I tried using System Restore, but though it goes through the 'reinstalling
files routine, at the end it announces: 'Your system cannot be restored'.

Please advise, thanks.

Presumably you don't log into a Novell server.

Followed the instructions in the link:
Uninstalled Client Services for Netware.
Restarted computer.

Then in Control Panel > User Accounts > Change the way users log on and off
> ticked the 'use welcome screen' box and applied it.
Restarted computer.

Problem solved.

Many thanks for your help.
