Is it ok to delete the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Lbd ?

It points to c:\system32\DRIVERS\Lbd.sys but there is no such file.

It belonged to AdAware which I uninstalled some time ago. Now, every time
the computer starts it looks for this driver and places an error in Evebt
Viewer.

I hope that by deleting the key, solve the issue, but don't want to do
without soe expert's approval, in case it is needed for something else.

Thank you

Whatever you do, be sure to back up the registry first.

Here's a site that's guaranteed to keep you busy for days. :-)

Set the service start mode = 4 ( Disabled ). Clear Event Log &
Reboot. If the error is not logged then go ahead and delete the
Key as it will not impact the PC.

To be on the safe side
simply export the key before you delete it...

but if since it points to a non-existent file
not likely to cause any harm in deleting

Whatever you do never use a Kelly junk registry fix

Did you once have Ad-Aware installed on your computer.

After un-installing Ad-Aware, the LBD service kept trying to start, even
though the program was no longer on the computer.

THe un-install program failed to remove the LBD entry in the registry -
when I searched for LBD in the registry, there was an entire folder.

I backed up that particular registry entry, then carefully deleted it -
everything seems OK now

Thanks

Do you mean change it in the registry? 'Start' in the right pane is at the
moment set to '0'.

Thans again.
