I am running XPHome. We have four user profiles - one for
each of myself, wife and two kids. All four are listed as
Administrator in order to let us install and run our own
software/games/etc.

Periodically, one of us are denied write access. Anyway,
this is how I see it. We get "cannot access file"
errors, "general file" errors or "disk full" errors when
trying to save a file or when trying to install software.

If I right click on a folder, like my personal Documents
folder, the Read Only attribute check box is grayed. If I
uncheck it and choose Apply, I get an activity progress
bar. When done, I choose OK. If I go back immediately,
the attribute is grayed again.

How can I check the write access attributes for each user,
or change them so that each user has full access to write.

Thanks in advance.

Bryan

Read-only atribut eis not your problem.
You may be having issues with NTFS permissions.
The read-only checkbox is only the actual read-only
attribute setting on files; on directories it is a switch
used to modify the attribute on contained files.
After it is used it is returned to its intermediate state.
Try using a safe mode (f8) boot in order to access the
security dialog in the properties of the folders in question.
Administrators do not automatically have access to
everything. They have access to what is granted to
them, and if something does not have a permission grant
to Administrators then they get no access. This can be
the case when someone has selected to make a folder
private.
