View Full Version : Recording BIOS settings?

Have been asked by a friend if there's any utility which will record current
BIOS settings, perhaps as a text file, to avoid manually writing them all
down before flashing it. I don't know, is there?

As far as saving the actual options, I've never seen one.
Most save functions are designed for a version roll-back.
On recent motherboards, flashing the BIOS does not
change or "default" the options.
I recommend that users jot down their settings and direct
them to BIOS web-sites that display the pages and have
descriptions of what each page/option controls.
At the least, most users should know how to access BIOS
and navigate around it. Especially now since most boards
have a "Flash Protection" option built-in.

Kenny,
The only convenient way I've ever come across was one mentioned by Fred
Langa in his Langalist newsletter.

Take digital photos of each screen - even a fairly lo-res one is good
enough.
I always figured if that was the only method Fred could find, it's good
enough for me.

Never thought of that, will pass it on. Someone in a nother group also
suggested using Print Screen but I think this only works, if at all, with a
parallel printer.
