I am not on a network. But on xp you can haver limited
accounts and administrators.I am an administrator.
But i forgot my password and (now know it) have been
locked out.The system log is full so only administrators
can log-on.
My computer is useless now!

(i have xp-pro)

If this is on a FAT32 partition, you can boot with a Win98 bootdisk, go into
C:\Windows\system32\config and delete the SAM file. That'll delete every
account on the system, but it'll also NULL the admin password. It'll be
blank the next time you boot up. If this is an NTFS partition, go here:

http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/

....create the bootdisk supplied, boot with it, accept the defaults, and
you'll be able to reset your accounts password. Keep the disk handy, and
write down your password next time!!! ;)

Joey;

Or
Reboot to Safe Mode, select Administrator, leave password blank.
Then go to User Accounts in Control Panel.
Select the user and change the password.
If you are using Windows XP Pro and have encrypted data, you may
permanently lose access to the encrypted data.

Here are other options:

After this is resolved, take precautions to not lose the password.
