I tried to put this on to the Office group, only to discover two days later
that that one is now listed as Defunct!

Office Enterprise 2007 Danish version - installed on XP Pro sp3
English version.
AVG Anti-virus free v9 is active. All updates are the latest files. There are
no other Users on my computer, so I am automaticcaly the Administartor.

I need to add English as the alternative to Danish for Office menus, help
files and so on.

When running the "Language Pack 2007 - English" install - X12-42421.exe -
the installation halted with the message:

"Setup cannot find Access.en.us\Access.en-us\AccLR.cab" (in folder
temp\OWP1524.tmp) "Browse to a valid installation source."

From the fault message directory tree, clicking OK gives - "Invalid
location".

But in that actual new folder, the file IS there and appears to be valid as
it unzips
OK

No matter where I try to point to a folder, it always states Invalid location!

I then ran a registry cleanup with CCleaner, and no better result.

I then ran the Office diagnostic programme and no better result.

So I decided to start from scratch and Uninstall followed by restart and
after that, another registry cleanup.

Then I installed again, but this time I had copied all the setup files onto
a new
DVD for the install medium so ran from that. All the programmes appeared and
each one opened correctly in Danish.

But, curious, now the Language Settings tool came up in English!!! The
shortcut to it is titled with the Danish name. (Before the reinstall the
tool was, of course, in Danish!!!)

When the installation failed again as first described (but with a new folder
name), I left the installation waiting unfinished with the fault message
showing. Then I opened the Language Setting Tool and it had the extra tab
(Display Language) installed to allow the setting to be changed. I made
changes, and it accepted them!

I opened every programme, and some of them showed English menus. Access,
Groove, OneNote and Publisher still showed Danish. Outlook showed a mixture
of languages.

I then tried copying the OWxxx folder to every User/Administrator Temp
folder I could find to go to those. No improvement.

But as the installation of the language pack had failed at exactly the same
point I had to close it and all the English installation up to that point
was lost. Trying the whole thing on another computer with the same OS etc got
the same failure to install.

I then tried something silly! Leaving the failure message showing I did not
Cancel the language pack installation but simply powered down the computer.
On switching power back on again to reboot, I now have the Language
Installation Tool, Excel, Power Point and Word with the English menus, and
Outlook with a mix of languages.

So now what should I try?

Tony,

Put the Office 2007 in your CD drive & try again

You will see the different language folders on there if you browse the root
of the CD

To answer your query - in the CD there are folders for each application.
Word, Access and so on. Each folder is labelled as, for example, Word.da-dk.
So all the applications on the initial install have Danish language menus
etc. There are no other languages.

The Help page on the "Language installation" Office tool gives instructions
for adding other display languages for use as an alternative to the Danish
menus etc.

I followed those instructions and downloaded the English language pack and
tried to install it as described in my original message. (That generated
folders such as Word.en-us in a temporary folder.) The install only partially
succeeded as I described.
