XP closing down takes ages suddenly.

I had

- some MS security updates,

- McAfee update,

- did a re-install of new version Audigy install CD (after having removed
all previous Creative trash), which by the way cured all my sound related
issues.

But what could be causing this Windows close down problem all at a sudden?

Take a look in the Event Viewer. Could be some process is not honoring
the request for it to unload and eventually errors which might show up
in an event log.

And what happened between when it shut down quickly and now? Did you
install some program or change hardware?
