View Full Version : How to release resources hold by Creating Rescue Recovery process

In Windows XP SPK3, on IBM Laptop T60.

I followed the instructions to create the rescue/recovery CDs. At one
point, there was a window screen telling me to wait while it was extracting
needed files. So, I waited. After more than 10 minutes (I thought), the
window screen went away, then NOTHING was shown to tell me what to do (I
supposed to get the window screen to tell me using the CD drive and insert
blank CD, ..., etc.). I waited another 20 minutes and still nothing was
shown. So I REBOOTED the system and retried the procedure. This time, after
I clicked "creating a set of rescue...", a window screen was popped out with
message "Resources are already in use, please retry after the other
application is completed".

I rebooted couple times and redid the procedure, I always got the message.
First, I don't know what resources it was talking. Then, I don't know how to
release it. I checked the task manager, and could not find out what
processes (application) the message referring to, which was holding the
resources (I did check the task manager before and after I retried the
procedure).

Besides this "... in use..." situation, the system works OK so far. My
questions are:

- how to release the resources?
- if there is not way to do it, am I still can use the system without future
problem (besides I can not create the rescue CDs)?

Thank to any help!

Try Disk Cleanup, particularly temp files.
If no joy contact IBM support, it is new and it seems something is not quite
right
