I'm trying to reformat the hard drive on my computer using backup disks I
created when I first got it. I've used them once before with no problem but
this time my computer is hung up on disk 3 (of 11) at 10% @ BASE_28.inp. It
has been hung up for over an hour now. I appreciate any help.

Are we talking floppy discs or cdrom?

if floppy, then forget it, they go bad just sitting around.
I suggest you format using an install cd, just boot with it and say yes when
asked.

it could also be a bad cdrom drive, try using a known good one.

These are CDs I'm using. Haven't had any problems with the CD drive in the
past, and I used it right before I started reformatting because I wanted to
back up some stuff.

I posted a new post with more details about the problems I've been running
into because I've tried several times to reformat.
