Hi:
One of PCs has a lack of CD/DVD burner capacity, ... often erratic
behaviour. Then, I purchased CD/DVD Burner over the Internet, priced
$49.99.

Only one month' use, CD/DVD Burner stopped working, ... no light when it's
attached to one of USB ports. It happened early this morning when I used
other, longer USB cable in my attempt to reach from a left corner of the
table to right corner of the table where I'm sitting.

The maker's web-site said, ... NO Exchange/Return Policy.

Is there a way to get it back to the life, so that at least I can use it at
minimum capacity?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Your message does not have much information. Is this an internal CD/DVD
burner or an internal? If it is external, have you verified that the port
your plugged it into is "alive" by testing with a different device. If it
is external are you sure that the power source is all plugged in firmly? If
it is internal, have you checked the cables?

It's External and name for this is, .... 'USB 2.0 Portable Slim External
DVD/RW Drive, 'SABRENT.'

In my wild guess, ... when I unwittingly attached a very powerful USB cable,
DVD/RW Drive/Burner might have fryed, that caused internal damage, thus
there is NO light at the front panel of DVD/RW Burner. Cable came with the
Burner is very slim and seems not powerful.

Any imputs on this would be truly appreciated.

Thanks,

If the burner is powered from the USB port itself (without a 120 volt
external power supply) you may have damaged the burner by connecting it to
an extension cable. This would have added more resistance to the total
length of the cable, which may have caused problems with the drive.

The drives are meant to use the USB cable that is attached, or comes with
the unit.

Take a look at this picture.

That is a Sabrent brand slim enclosure, and it comes with two USB cables.
To guarantee enough power to the enclosure, you connect both USB
cables. One USB cable has a barrel power connector on the end.
That USB cable is used only to carry power. The other USB cable
has a USB end on it, and it carries both data and power. I would
try the product with both cables connected.

Other than that, open the unit and make sure the internal connectors
are all seated properly. Maybe a connector fell off, and was
never secured when you got it.
