I was on an internet storage point provided by my ISP.
When I saw my D: drive listed I mistakenly thought that
all this data had been transferred to the storage point.
I decided to delete it(which was really stupid of me) and
when I realised that I was actually deleting my d: drive
I hit ctrl alt del and stopped the process. Nothing was
stored in my recycle bin. I ran restore and restored
windows to where it had been yesterday. This brought my
programs back but I still do not have contacts documents
and any other saved data. I have done nothing else exept
contact you because I hope this other information can be
recovered still

Dave System Restore does not restore personal data:
http://microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/itcommunity/Newsgroups/FAQSRWXP.asp
Always check the Recycle Bin first.
If the file is there, right click the file then click Restore.
It is important not to do anything with the computer until a decision
is made.
Every boot and even every keystroke potentially permanently destroys
the data.
Some 3rd party tools such as Norton System Works have utilities like
"Norton Protected Recycle Bin"
Check you documentation if you think you may have this capability.
