View Full Version : views arbitrarily change

I'm using the home edition, and periodically, most of my windows explorer
window views arbitrarily change from icon to detail.
I work mostly from a 2 pane detail window to access files and
programs, but I like to have the control panel and the few of the shortcut
windows I have created to always appear as icons rather than detail. No
matter how many times I change the view in these windows, they default back
to detail. (I think I might have once clicked an option to make
all my windows look like (detail), but I'm not sure.)
I thought maybe the 400 bag business might have been causing the problem,
but installing the 'big number fix' to the registry didn't help any.
Can anyone shed some light on my problem?
Thanks in advance.

Why not use the apply to all folder option to set this up. Open a folder in
Explorer, set it up the way you want including how you want those specific
items, then to go tools, select folder options and on the view menu click
apply to all folders.

Michael,
My problem is that I want a *few* windows to open as icon view. Although
most of the time I want to be able to view windows in detail mode. But I
want the respective windows to open in the acceptable mode every time. Am I
making myself clear?
